Leicester Public Library - 2019
DAS provided General Contracting services for the addition to and renovation of this existing, historic library building in Leicester, MA. The library was originally built in 1895.
The project consisted of completely renovating the existing building – modernizing the mechanical, electrical and life safety systems and improving accessibility – while also adding an accessible entrance, elevator and emergency staircase. The site was also improved by the creation of a new two-way drive, and a new parking lot with 31 spaces. The project was designed to maintain and restore as much of the historic building as possible, keeping the historic windows and preserving the beautiful interior finishes. The addition connects to the existing building, and the exterior massing mimics the old building with the roof pitch and eave heights. The body of the addition is brick masonry with stone accents to match the front of the existing building.
